An electrician works on a wide range of projects, from new construction wiring work to maintenance, overhead wiring and upgrades to obsolete systems.
When people start looking at entering this field, they will look at A-Grade electrician jobs with the necessary requisite training and then try and determine what they need to do to become an A-Grade electrician.
This is a good start; however, in addition to technical skills there is training done through a TAFE which is a registered training organisation done over a four year period as an apprenticeship.
However on top of even that, there are certain qualities an electrician needs to have and you need to determine if those traits align with your own psyche.
Things like good communication skills, a service oriented disposition, good numerical skills, the desire and inclination to be outdoors more often than not, the physical abilities to crawl under a house or on top of a roof and your ability to get along well with your community - as it is a closed community.
Specialist platforms like electricianXchange exist which allows you to be part of this career/work related market place, allowing you to liaise and communicate with others without having to liaise with intermediaries like labour hire companies, recruiters or job boards.
